The Wolfe at The Door Pinot Noir 2023 is a bright and light expression of Tamar Valley fruit, crafted by the talented Hugh McCullough.

This early-drinking Pinot Noir offers a delicate balance of orange rind, red cherry, and rhubarb crumble notes. A small amount of carefully managed whole bunch fruit undergoes carbonic fermentation, adding a touch of savoury spice and a distinctive lightness to the wine.

With a zippy finish, this vibrant Pinot is perfect for those seeking a fresh and lively wine with a hint of complexity. Minimal intervention in the winemaking process ensures a pure and expressive style.

Light-hearted, fresh and experimental, Wolfe at the Door wines are to be enjoyed with friends, in the sun, with a good feed. The releases change each year, depending on the fruit, the season, and the batches. Expect bright, crunchy and exciting wines, no matter the variety. About the Vineyard

Wellington & Wolfe comes from the owner’s love of studying history. Hugh discovered wine while studying for a degree in History and in particular, two generals – Wellington and Wolfe. These names feature prominently in places he has travelled to and worked and one morning they just rolled off the tongue: ‘The Riesling Project’ had a name.
Hugh has been captivated by Tasmania since his first visit. The landscape, the history ancient and modern, the people, and most of all, the quality of fruit grown all over the island. His passion for pure, expressive Riesling resulted in the starting of this company with his partner (and kelpies) in 2017.
We work with growers who are deeply committed to sustainably producing the highest quality fruit. These are predominantly in the kanamaluka/Tamar Valley and Pipers River regions.

Tamar Valley

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s oldest wine region, located in Northern Tasmania and stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait.

This region is renowned for its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils, which provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium wines.

Home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania’s total wine production. The region has a long history of viticulture, with its first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, and its cuttings even contributing to the early vineyards in South Australia.

Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines, all of which reflect the region’s exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
