About the Vineyard

Our winery is located in the cool climate of northern lutruwita (Tasmania), on the western side of the beautiful Tamar Valley. We instantly fell in love with this land, which overlooks the meandering kanamaluka (Tamar River).

The adventure of cultivating our own grapes began in 2018. With five clones of Pinot Noir, six clones of Chardonnay, some Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah, our vineyard is planted at a high density of 6500 vines a hectare and a row spacing of 1.8m. The rich, ferrous topsoil contains large volumes of dolerite pebbles and lays on top of a heavy clay subsoil, which acts as a natural sponge for water and nutrients.

Our wine growing stems from a deep love for our planet, the creatures living on it and a common idea of true terroir wines. Our approach emphasizes on creating habitat for beneficial invertebrates and other native wildlife to create a balance between all elements found in our biosystem. We are certified organic for our vineyard and winery. Also, ten percent of the property has been set aside to preserve intact native grass and an additional fifteen percent has been planted with trees, understory and ground cover plants to support the native animals present. We care deeply about the environment and aim to protect it whilst producing the highest quality fruit.
Our wines are crafted with maximum care and minimal intervention in order to truly represent their origin.

We are vignerons – our wines are grown, not made.

Tamar Valley

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s oldest wine region, located in Northern Tasmania and stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait.

This region is renowned for its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils, which provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium wines.

Home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania’s total wine production. The region has a long history of viticulture, with its first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, and its cuttings even contributing to the early vineyards in South Australia.

Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines, all of which reflect the region’s exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
