The Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Riesling 2023 is a finely crafted expression of Tamar Valley Riesling, offering both aromatic elegance and a textured palate.

The wine lifts from the glass with a fragrant perfume of lime curd tart and jasmine, while the palate delivers a lovely balance of bright lime fruit and subtle pastry notes.

A touch of residual sugar adds richness, while the wine's nervy acidity and a subtle seaside note build into a clean, refreshing finish.

This Riesling is perfect for immediate enjoyment or can be cellared to further develop its refined complexity.

Winemaking

This wine is from Tasmania’s Tamar Valley (TMV). Beginning just south of Launceston the valley winds 50km north to its meeting point with the powerful Bass Strait.

With an endless number of aspects and micro climates, this wine is produced from two spots which together represent what we love about riesling from this area.  Three Wishes, planted in 1999 is at Hillwood is a warmer site, protected from the north, and the river is just to the south, just a few hundred metres away.  To compliment, we have two little plots from growers in Relbia, much further south, with a zesty acid profile these balance the lush fruit and lifted aromatics from the Three Wishes vineyard.

About the Vineyard

Established in 2013, Two Tonne Tasmania focuses on sub-regional pinot noir, chardonnay & riesling.

These wines are produced from our own vineyards in the Tamar Valley, and a small number of dedicated growers across the state.

Tamar Valley

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s oldest wine region, located in Northern Tasmania and stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait.

This region is renowned for its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils, which provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium wines.

Home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania’s total wine production. The region has a long history of viticulture, with its first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, and its cuttings even contributing to the early vineyards in South Australia.

Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines, all of which reflect the region’s exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
