The Moores Hill Riesling 2023 opens with delicate aromas of citrus blossom, layered with subtle hints of passionfruit and lime.

These fresh citrus notes carry through to the palate, where flavours of lemon and lime are complemented by a touch of green mango.

A small amount of residual sugar adds a lovely roundness to the wine, balancing the typical cool-climate acidity that leads to a clean, long finish.

This Riesling showcases the vibrancy and elegance that Tasmania's cool climate brings to the variety, offering freshness and complexity with every sip.

Winemaking

We have built a reputation for our Riesling through the years winning multiple trophies and medals making Moores Hill synonymous with Tasmanian Riesling. We produce dry and sweet Rieslings bursting with flavour and aromatics while maintaining balanced racy acidity and elegant minerality. We aim to release our Rieslings early however they are built to age extremely well and reward careful cellaring.

About the Vineyard

Our small vineyard is located on a beautiful northeast-facing hillside near the sleepy town of Exeter. Established in 1997, Moores Hill is 120m above sea level and is part of a ridge system that rings the valley floor below giving the site good aspect, elevation and drainage. As the crow flies, we are 5 km from the Tamar River and 30 km from Bass Strait making us one of the coolest sites on the West Tamar – ideal for the slow and gentle ripening of our precious grapes.

Tamar Valley

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s oldest wine region, located in Northern Tasmania and stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait.

This region is renowned for its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils, which provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium wines.

Home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania’s total wine production. The region has a long history of viticulture, with its first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, and its cuttings even contributing to the early vineyards in South Australia.

Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines, all of which reflect the region’s exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
