The Barringwood Tasmanian Cuvée is a crisp and vibrant sparkling wine that beautifully showcases Tasmania’s cool-climate winemaking expertise. This non-vintage traditional method sparkling offers a finely balanced palate with bright citrus, hints of strawberry, apple toastiness, and a subtle appearance of straw.

The fresh citrus-driven acidity cuts through the wine, creating a refreshing and crisp finish, while the fine, persistent bead adds elegance. With its faint pink tint, this youthful cuvée combines the bright fruit flavours of Pinot Noir with the structure and focus of Chardonnay, delivering purity, precision, and excitement.

Perfect for celebrating any occasion, this sparkling wine is both affordable and truly remarkable.

Winemaking

Barringwood’s Non-vintage cuvee was crafted with handpicked fruit from our Evandale vineyard located at the southern end of the Tamar Valley. It is a blend of Chardonnay 58%, Pinot Noir 41% and Pinot Meunier 1%, based on 2021 vintage.

Grapes were whole bunch-pressed to tank for primary fermentation, then underwent malolactic fermentation (100%) and batonnage to develop texture and mouth feel.  The base wine was then bottled with a yeast addition and the secondary (bubble generating) fermentation completed under crown seal.  After a minimum of 18 months lees aging each bottle was riddled, disgorged and dosaged.

About the Vineyard

Along with our original vineyard in Lower Barrington, Barringwood has planted two new vineyards in Evandale and Cranbrook.

All our vineyard operations focus on producing low yields of premium grapes and believe that the key to achieving this is an unwavering attention to detail. Our vines are trained on a combination of vertical shoot positioned (VSP) trellising and a modified Scott Henry, which we began trialling in 2014. We hand prune and hand pick and use minimal drip irrigation. We employ preventative management strategies for pests and diseases to minimise the use of chemical.
